Telehandler Environmental Requirements for Personnel Platform Operation

This chapter explains Telescro telehandler personnel platform environmental requirements, including safe distance from cables and wind speed limits for platform operation.

10.1 Requirements for Working Near Cables

Warning

Do not operate the platform near cables. Maintain the required safety distance.

Nominal Voltage and Distance from the Ground or Floor

Nominal Voltage Distance from the Ground or Floor (m)
50 < U < 1000 2.30 m
1000 < U < 30000 2.50 m
30000 < U < 45000 2.60 m
45000 < U < 63000 2.80 m
63000 < U < 90000 3.00 m
90000 < U < 150000 3.40 m
150000 < U < 225000 4.00 m
225000 < U < 400000 5.30 m
400000 < U < 750000 7.90 m

10.2 Wind Speed Limit Requirements

Warning

Platform operation is strictly prohibited when wind speed exceeds 45 km/h.

Note

The following wind force levels provide an empirical reference for wind speed evaluation.

10.3 Beaufort Wind Scale Reference Table (Wind Speed Measured at 10 m Above Ground)

Wind Force Wind Type Wind Speed (knots) Wind Speed (km/h) Wind Speed (m/s) Effects on Land Sea Conditions
0 Calm 0 – 1 0 – 1 <0.3 Smoke rises vertically. Sea like a mirror.
1 Light Air 1 – 3 1 – 5 0.3 – 1.5 Smoke drifts with the wind. Rippled with the appearance of scales; no foam crests.
2 Light Breeze 4 – 6 6 – 11 1.6 – 3.3 Wind felt on the face; leaves move and may fall. Small but distinct wavelets.
3 Gentle Breeze 7 – 10 12 – 19 3.4 – 5.4 Leaves and small twigs are in motion. Large wavelets; crests occasionally show white foam.
4 Moderate Breeze 11 – 16 20 – 28 5.5 – 7.9 Dust and loose paper are raised; small tree trunks sway. Small waves with more frequent white crests.
5 Fresh Breeze 17 – 21 29 – 38 8.0 – 10.7 Leafy shrubs sway. Moderate waves take shape; white foam crests form and occasional spray appears.
6 Strong Breeze 22 – 27 39 – 49 10.8 – 13.8 Large branches move; overhead wires whistle; umbrellas are difficult to use. Large waves form; white foam areas increase and spray begins to appear.
7 Near Gale 28 – 33 50 – 61 13.9 – 17.1 Whole trees sway; walking against the wind is difficult. The sea heaps up and foam is blown in streaks along the wind direction.
8 Gale 34 – 40 62 – 74 17.2 – 20.7 Small branches break; progress against the wind is difficult. Moderately high waves with breaking crests.
9 Strong Gale 41 – 47 75 – 88 20.8 – 24.4 Chimneys, roof tiles, and similar parts may be damaged. High waves; dense foam reduces visibility.
10 Storm 48 – 55 89 – 102 24.5 – 28.4 Rare on land; when it occurs, trees may be uprooted and buildings damaged. Very high waves with overhanging crests; the sea surface turns white and visibility is reduced.
11 Violent Storm 56 – 63 103 – 117 28.5 – 32.6 Very rare on land; when it occurs, it causes major damage. Exceptionally high waves may hide medium-sized ships; the sea is covered with white foam and visibility is greatly reduced.
12 Hurricane 64+ 118+ 32.7+ Causes extremely severe damage. Air is filled with foam and spray; visibility is very poor.
