Management Responsibilities

This section explains the responsibilities of company management when operating a telehandler safely.

Worksite Conditions

Proper management of the worksite can significantly reduce the risk of accidents during telehandler operation.
Management personnel must ensure that the working environment is safe and suitable for machine operation.

The following conditions should always be considered:

  • The ground should be reasonably level and free from unnecessary bumps or obstacles.
  • Steep slopes should be avoided whenever possible.
  • Pedestrian traffic must be controlled to prevent people from entering the machine operating area.
  • The working zone must remain clearly visible and well organized.

Maintaining a properly managed worksite improves operational efficiency and reduces potential hazards.

Operators

Only qualified and authorized personnel are allowed to operate the telehandler.

A written authorization must be issued by the responsible department within the organization, and the operator must carry this authorization at all times.

Based on operational experience, certain types of improper use may occur during telehandler operation. These predictable misuses must be strictly prohibited.

Examples include:

  • Improper actions caused by negligence or lack of attention.
  • Reflex actions performed during machine malfunction or unexpected situations.
  • Unsafe shortcuts taken in order to complete tasks more quickly.
  • Attempts by untrained individuals, apprentices, or unauthorized persons to operate the machine.
  • Using the telehandler for competitions, demonstrations, or personal experimentation.

Management personnel must carefully evaluate whether an operator has the necessary training and competence before allowing them to operate the machine.

Machine Management

Management personnel must ensure that the telehandler is suitable for the intended work and is operated under appropriate environmental conditions.

A. Machine Suitability for the Job

The telehandler has been designed and tested to operate under the standard working conditions specified in this operator manual.

Before commissioning the machine, management personnel must verify that the telehandler is suitable for the intended application.
If necessary, additional inspections or operational tests should be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and safety standards.

B. Adaptation to Environmental Conditions

In addition to the equipment installed on the telehandler, several optional devices may be available depending on the operating environment.

These may include:

  • Road lighting equipment
  • Stop lamps and flashing lights
  • Reverse lights and reverse warning alarms
  • Front and rear working lights
  • Lighting installed at the end of the telescopic boom

Operators must consider the working conditions when selecting signal and lighting equipment. If necessary, contact your authorized dealer for appropriate options.

Environmental factors must also be taken into account, including weather conditions and temperature.

For normal operating conditions (temperatures between –15°C and +35°C), the lubrication levels of all systems should be checked before operation.

For more extreme weather conditions:

  • The circuits may need to be drained.
  • Lubricants suitable for the ambient temperature should be used.
  • The same precautions apply to the coolant system.

When operating in areas without fire-fighting equipment, the telehandler must be equipped with an independent fire extinguisher.
For available options, contact your dealer.

The telehandler is designed for outdoor operation under standard climatic conditions and for indoor operation in well-ventilated areas.

The machine must not be used in environments with fire or explosion hazards, such as:

  • Oil refineries
  • Fuel storage facilities
  • Gas storage areas
  • Warehouses containing flammable materials

If operation in such environments is required, special equipment must be installed.

C. Machine Modifications

Warning
Unauthorized modifications to the telehandler are strictly prohibited for safety reasons.

For the safety of the operator and other personnel, the structure and configuration of the machine must not be modified without prior approval from the manufacturer.

Prohibited modifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Hydraulic system modifications
  • Adjustments to safety limiters
  • Changes to engine speed settings
  • Installation of unapproved attachments
  • Adding additional counterweights without proper calculation
  • Modification of alarm systems or warning lights

Unauthorized modifications may compromise machine stability and safety.
In such cases, the manufacturer will not assume responsibility for resulting damage or accidents.

D. Road Traffic Regulations

When the telehandler is operated on public roads, it must comply with the road traffic regulations of the country in which the machine is used.

A certificate of conformity is issued with the machine and must be kept in a safe location.

Management personnel must ensure that the telehandler complies with all applicable regulatory requirements before the machine is driven on public roads.

Operator Manual

The operator manual must always be kept in the designated storage location on the telehandler and must be accessible to the operator at all times.

The manual must be provided in a language that the operator can understand.

If the operator manual, identification plates, or safety labels become damaged, illegible, or missing, they must be replaced immediately.

Maintenance Responsibilities

Maintenance or repair operations not specifically described in the maintenance section of this manual must only be performed by qualified technicians.

These operations must be carried out under safe conditions to protect both the operator and any other personnel working around the machine.

To maintain the telehandler in proper working condition, periodic inspections must be performed.

The frequency of these inspections is determined by the regulations in force in the country where the machine is used.
